KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas, Walmart Inc., and Kansas City Public Schools today announced a weekend COVID-19 vaccination event this Saturday, May 1, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Northeast High School. Walmart pharmacists will vaccinate 300 Kansas Citians who have not yet initiated their vaccine process.
Kansas Citians can call 833-886-0023 and select Option 5 to schedule an appointment. This clinic will also accept walk-ins and same-day appointments.
“I am proud to see over one third of Kansas City’s adult population fully vaccinated, but we must continue our work to ensure vaccines reach all corners of our community,” said Mayor Lucas. “We remain committed to creating more vaccination opportunities such as this to make the process more convenient and accessible for all Kansas Citians. Last week, the Kansas City Health Department opened weekend and evening clinics for vaccinations. This weekend, thanks to our partnership with Walmart and Kansas City Public Schools, we now have another convenient opportunity to connect 300 more Kansas Citians with vaccines."
"Working with community partners to reach those who might not otherwise have access, is important to us, and we want to help the country re-open through widespread COVID-19 vaccination,” said Michael Lindsey, Walmart Public Affairs Director. “We’re committed to helping people live better – and healthier lives – in Kansas City, and we take that role very seriously. We’re proud to partner with the City and its schools to help achieve this.”
“We are thrilled to provide our schools in partnership to ensure our community can receive the vaccine,” said Dr. Mark Bedell, Superintendent of Kansas City Public Schools. “We have such gratitude for these partnerships that benefit our community and neighbors. When we focus on engaging our community, everyone wins.”
“We’re inspired by the enthusiastic collaboration among Kansas City Public Schools, our City, businesses and healthcare organizations,” said Renita Mollman, chair of the Kansas City COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force. “These leaders are bringing vaccination events directly to communities to help us achieve the goal we all share; to make the vaccine process efficient and equitable for all of Kansas City.”
Kansas Citians interested in an appointment at the Northeast High School vaccination event should call 833-886-0023 and select Option 5. Walk-ins and same day appointments are also accepted. Kansas Citians interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine can also schedule an appointment with the Kansas City Health Department by calling 311 or visit www.vaccinatekc.com to find vaccination events around the Kansas City region.
