Who audits the auditors is a common question and the answer is other auditors. In October 2015, the City Auditor’s Office underwent its eighth peer review and we received a full compliance opinion from the peer review team. The reviewers further noted the City Auditor’s Office “conducts audits with the potential for significant impact that are responsive to the needs and concerns of decision-makers and/or the public.”
Government Auditing Standards require the City Auditor’s Office to undergo an external peer review by outside professionals at least once every three years to evaluate our internal quality control system and compliance with the standards. Our peer reviews are conducted under guidelines established by the Association of Local Government Auditors.
