“I had a great experience in the City Internship program. Through the many projects I had the privilege of working on, I was able to apply and strengthen my own skills, as well as develop new skills. The connections I made with all of the city leaders and employees allowed me to build an invaluable network while improving my leadership skills by gaining advice from multiple perspectives that I can apply toward my future career. I was also able to take part in the city’s decision making process, and through it, I developed an appreciation for the amount of work it takes to govern a City. I am confident that connections I made and the experience I gained through the City’s internship program has prepared me well for the next step in my career and will carry me far in life.” – Christina Shackelford, Rockhurst University

“The City Internship allows students to make important contributions to the City while participating in a challenging and rewarding work environment. We welcome students of every academic major to City Hall. Your contributions to the very communities you live in help us to further enhance our processes and initiatives to deliver quality services to citizens. The City is a key employer that enjoys the benefit of bright and motivated employees. I’m impressed by candidates who have taken advantage of opportunities that integrate their classroom theories with real world models. As a product of internships myself, I strongly believe the experiences, connections and mentorship I gained as an intern played an integral role in my career development.”
