Thank you to all of you who have registered so far!!! There are still a lot who haven’t. So, here are some answers to some questions you might have.
What is Corporate Challenge? It is an Olympic-style, athletic competition between companies in the greater Kansas City area. The City of KCMO will be competing against teams from Cerner, Sprint, Garmin, Children’s Mercy, Black & Veatch, Honeywell, Commerce Bank, Truman Medical Centers, Hallmark, ATK, North Kansas City Hospital and other like-sized companies in the area.
When is competition? It starts with a Walk and Kick-Off Party in Parking Lot L of the Truman Sports Complex on Friday, April 24 from 4–7 p.m. It continues through the month of June. Registrations must be in Fri., MARCH 13 for bracketed events; Fri., APRIL 10 for non-bracketed events. NOTE: Sign up EARLY so you don’t miss out on important info. We’re working on incentives for those who represent the City so keep your fingers crossed and SIGN UP NOW.
Who can participate? All City of KCMO employees, including all contract, part-time, seasonal employees, are encouraged to participate. Retirees can participate, too. Contact Yvette Tunley at email@example.com or 816-513-1945, Lisa Czubak at firstname.lastname@example.org or 816-513-1347, Colleen Doctorian at email@example.com or 816-513-1377 for more information.
Do you have to be athletically inclined? Not for all of the events (see next question). Some events are more competitive than others, but all of them are fun!
What are the events? Events include 3-on-3 basketball, bike race, bowling, darts, disc golf, dodgeball, duathlon, fishing, 5K, flag football, golf, half marathon, horseshoes, long jump, pool, racquetball, shot put, softball, swim meet, table tennis, tennis, track meet, trap shooting, triathlon/team triathlon, tug-of-war, volleyball, walk and weightlifting. Most events have men’s and women’s divisions and some are coed. We also receive points for volunteers, but you must register.
What do you get for participating? Every participant receives the City of KCMO competition t-shirt. Event coordinators also receive a coordinator t-shirt. Points are awarded in every event for those participating and meeting the point guidelines (see the rules for events at www.kccorporatechallenge.com). Gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded to the top three teams and/or individuals in each competition as well. This is a GREAT way to get in shape and meet other City of KCMO employees you may never do business with.
