Our esteemed judges, who are at the helm of our Courts, are appointed by the Mayor and City Council through a merit selection system that requires voter approval every four years. A clerk and bailiff are assigned to each judge. While each judge handles many types of cases, some of our judges also preside over specialized problem-solving courts: Mental Health Court, Drug Court, Veterans Treatment Court, Domestic Violence Court, Truancy Court and Housing Court.
