A business plan articulates what your business does, where it is going and how you will take it there. Typical business plans include a summary, market analysis, company description, organization and management structure, marketing and sales structure, description of your service or product line, funding requests and financial information. A business plan is typically required by banks and other financial service providers when you are being considered for a loan.
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) provides information on writing your business plan. The SBA’s Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) may also be able to assist you in starting your business. The offices of SCORE volunteer counselors are located inside the UMKC Innovation Center. To schedule an appointment to meet with a counselor, call 816-235-6675.
