Nearly 400 job seekers and hundreds of other interested neighbors took a tour and applied for positions at the new SunFresh grocery store February 24. The new SunFresh is part of the $13 million Linwood Shopping Center Redevelopment project which began in March 2017.
Attendees were updated on the project and applied for one of the approximately 80 jobs available once the SunFresh opens in late spring/early summer. The city’s Neighborhood and Housing Services (NHSD) Director John Wood said the “sneak peek” not only gave the neighborhood a chance to see the new store, but see how far the project has come in just 11 months. “We wanted to showcase what’s been going on,” he said.
Neighbors took a short walking tour, saw several renderings of what the store will look like once finished and met store owners John and Pam Lipari.
The Linwood Shopping Center has been without a grocery store for more than a decade. This new 40,000 square foot, full-service store will stock more than 50,000 items.
