Trash service day changing in 11 KCMO neighborhoods effective Oct. 1
In an effort to improve trash service across Kansas City, pick-up days are changing for a small number of residents living north and south of the Missouri River. Only 11 Kansas City neighborhoods will be affected by the change.
“We are always looking to improve the services we provide to the citizens of Kansas City,” said Michael Shaw, Solid Waste Division Manager. “Every few years, we rebalance our pick-up schedules and change service days because of population growth or decline in certain areas of the city.”
The following changes go into effect the week of Oct. 1, 2017.
- Wednesday collection area south of Mo. Hwy 152 from North Oak to I-435 moves to Friday. Neighborhoods affected: Ridgefield, Gashland East and parts of Jefferson Highlands and Shoal Creek.
- Wednesday collection area east of I-49/U.S. 71 Hwy. from Bannister Rd. to Blue Ridge Blvd. moves to Friday. Neighborhoods affected: Fairlane, Stratford Estates and Hickman Mills.
- Thursday collection area from State Line Rd. to Troost Ave. from 85th St. to Bannister Rd. moves to Wednesday. Neighborhoods affected: West Hills, Santa Fe Hills, Boone Hills and Lea Manor.
These changes affect less than five percent of the nearly 141,000 households Solid Waste services citywide. See maps below for clarification. View complete lists of address for the north and south regions.
