City announces appointment of Deputy Director of Administration, Sales and Event Support
The City of Kansas City, Missouri, announced today the appointment of Michael Young to the position of Deputy Director of Administration, Sales and Event Support in the Department of Convention and Entertainment Facilities. This newly created position will oversee the department’s Finance Division, Sales, Marketing, Event Operations and American Royal Center facilities.
“I am pleased to welcome Michael Young to our senior management team,” said Oscar McGaskey, Executive Director. “His previous experience and commitment to exceeding customer expectations were important factors in the decision to appoint him to this position.”
Young has over 12 years of senior-level management experience, where he most recently served as Assistant General Manager in the Department of Convention and Entertainment Facilities. Prior to this position, Michael was General Manager at the Independence Events Center and the Centerpoint Community Ice Facility. In this role, he was responsible for daily operations including facility maintenance, event production, security, event staffing, labor negotiations, procurement, marketing, finance and contract negotiations. Additionally, Young has experience working at Kemper Arena as Assistant General Manager.
