FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Oct. 23, 2015
The City of Kansas City, Missouri’s Public Works Department has shut down the 155th Street Bridge just east of Peterson Road and is detouring traffic in the area.
A City inspector noticed a structural concern on the bridge during a routine inspection this afternoon around 1 p.m.
“The wooden beams have shifted and the bridge is no longer properly supported,” says City Engineer, Jeff Martin. “It will be shut down indefinitely.”
Barricades are up around the bridge and detour signs are posted. The eastbound detour is north on Peterson Road, east on Highway 150 and south on Horridge Road.
The westbound detour is north on Horridge Road, west on Highway 150 and south on Peterson Road.
The detour will affect residents in Grandview, Raymore, Lee’s Summit and southeast Kansas City.
