Clean Sweep KC! event to be held this Saturday in Kansas City’s Marlborough Neighborhood
Residents are encouraged to bring trash, brush, and tires for safe disposal
This Saturday, The City of Kansas City will partner with residents in Kansas City’s Marlborough neighborhood to host a fall Clean Sweep KC! event. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. (noon) at the Paul Robeson Middle School, located at 8201 Holmes Rd. During the event, residents are welcome to bring excess trash, brush and tires for disposal. Kansas City’s new mobile 311 van will be available to serve residents, and the City’s Royals-themed street sweeper will also debut at the event.
“Kansas City is partnering with residents in the Marlborough neighborhood to improve health and safety, and to strengthen the community,” said Assistant City Manager, Pat Klein. “This community has been nationally recognized for its incredible transformation as part of Kansas City’s green infrastructure investments. The success in this neighborhood is a prime example of how residents and City departments can collaborate to make a difference.”
Kansas City’s mobile 311 van will be on-site to provide City services to residents. The new eco-friendly 311 van serves as a ‘mobile City Hall’ by allowing residents to access City services right in their own neighborhood. The van, which is equipped with 311 representatives and tablets, allows residents to access information, schedule bulky-item pick-ups, and report other issues and concerns to the City.
Additionally, Kansas City’s new Royals-themed street sweeper will make its first public appearance at the Clean Sweep KC! event. The street sweeper is the City’s first and only sweeper to don a Royals logo, with the theme “They sweep teams, we sweep streets”. The street sweeper runs on compressed natural gas (CNG), which is more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly than diesel-run equipment. Each year, Kansas City’s street sweepers cover more than 16,000 gutter miles; that is equivalent to three round-trip drives from New York to Los Angeles.
