Find and pay Municipal Court tickets anytime with upgraded online system
Looking for a Municipal Court case and paying the fine online just got a lot easier due to recent upgrades to the Kansas City Municipal Court website. The changes give access to more information about cases and Municipal Court bond information. The upgraded system also features improved search features, and e-receipt options. All of the changes can be found by visiting kcmo.gov/pay or kcmo.gov/court.
“This is part of an ongoing effort to improve court efficiency and overall City customer service. The expanded search options should reduce the number of calls to the City’s 311 Action Center from people needing basic information about their cases,” said Court Administrator Megan Pfannenstiel. “Making more case information available online should reduce calls and trips to the courthouse by defendants, as well as bonding agents and attorneys, just to have staff look up court dates and bond information.”
With the enhancements to the Municipal Court online system, customers now can search for cases six different ways: 1. Name and Date of Birth; 2. Ticket Number; 3. Driver’s License Number and State; 4. License Plate Number and State; 5. Name and Docket Date; or 6. Bond Number. Previously, the only way to search the Municipal Court web site was by last name and ticket number, meaning that search could return only that specific case.
The online system will display only open cases in active, probation or warrant status that meet the particular search criteria. It does not show cases that have been completed and closed even though they may be an open record pursuant to the Missouri Sunshine Law. Additional case information remains available by contacting the Municipal Court. Pfannenstiel said the court is working with its case management provider to enhance public viewing of cases even more by the end of the year.
The enhanced online ticket payment system is the second significant upgrade to Municipal Court operations in recent weeks. Last month Municipal Court launched a new Time to Pay Plan which allows installment payments on court fines. Both the enhanced online system and the installment payment are further examples how the Municipal Court is building on the paperless case management system it adopted in 2011.
