FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 10, 2015
This week, Kansas City will welcome thousands of visitors to our world-class city to enjoy events such as the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament, Planet Comicon, and musical performances by the Chieftains and other artists. In addition to these exciting events, Kansas City offers many amenities to visitors and residents who are headed downtown to participate in the festivities. To make the experience more enjoyable, Kansas City has compiled a complete list of resources online at /welcome2kcmo/.
To accommodate Kansas City’s event-goers, the City offers mass transportation and more than 40,000 parking spaces downtown. Information regarding parking can be found online at the City’s Parking page, which features information and a list of parking garages maintained by the City. Kansas City has also released two new parking features:
- Kansas City’s new “Click and Park” option which makes it easy to find and pre-pay parking in City-owned parking garages.
- A new Parkmobile app allows visitors and residents to pay for parking online, without digging for coins at a meter.
Additionally, the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) operates local and express routes, demand-response, bus rapid transit, paratransit, and vanpool services. The Main Street MAX line is offering more frequent service for the Big 12 Tournament. Event goers can find out how to get from one place to another efficiently and inexpensively at www.kcata.org.
Please visit www.visitkc.com for additional information about events, additional parking locations, and road closures.
