The City of Kansas City, Mo. is pleased to announce that six city-owned parking facilities are now equipped with electric vehicle charging stations. This effort is part of the City’s on-going commitment to protecting the environment, and providing green alternatives to residents.
Kansas City Power & Light (KCPL) has partnered with the City of Kansas City, Mo. to help install the charging stations at City-owned parking lots and garages. The new charging stations are located at the following facilities:
- JE Dunn Parking Garage (1001 Locust St.)
- Wolf Parking Garage (1120 Oak St.)
- Cosentino’s Parking Garage (1220 Walnut St.)
- President’s Hotel Parking Garage (1398 Main St.)
- KC Live Parking Garage (151 E. 13th St.)
- 300 Wyandotte Parking Garage
These charging stations are designed to charge a vehicle from 25% battery capacity to full charge in 4 to 6 hours. Each site will have between 3 and 6 charging stations, each capable of charging 2 vehicles at a time.
Additional installations are planned at selected Parks and Recreation community centers: Loose Park, the Kansas City Zoo, Starlight Theater, the Health Department parking lots, the Arts District and the Municipal Auditorium Plaza parking garages.
The City and KCPL are providing these stations to residents free of charge until 2017. To locate charging stations, visit our website at www.kcmo.gov/parking or https://kcpl.chargepoint.com/charge_point.
