FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Oct. 5, 2016
Partner with your neighborhood group to pick up and roll in old tires at free tire collection events.
Neighborhood organizations can collect and deliver waste tires between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to the City’s Environmental Campus at 4707 Deramus on the following dates:
- Oct. 15, 2016
- Nov. 5, 2016
- Nov. 19, 2016
Tire amnesty collections are usually held the first Saturday of each month. This fall the City is adding extra dates – Oct. 15 and Nov. 19 – to provide more clean-up opportunities.
Additionally, tire trailers will be placed in two neighborhoods – Marlborough on Oct. 15 and Historic Northeast on Oct. 29 – to help these areas which have an additional need.
Plus, a special collection event on Nov. 5, provides KCMO residents the opportunity to responsibly dispose of tires, as well as paint, brush, small appliances, electronics, building materials, glass and clothing. This event will be held at the Manuel Tech Career Center, 1320 Truman Road, from 8 a.m. to noon. Proof of residency is required.
When tires are illegally dumped along roadways, ditches and vacant lots they not only make the City look dirty, but they also can lead to health risks. The Solid Waste Division offers a waste tire drop-off program to help residents and neighborhoods properly dispose of tires. This program is available to all City of Kansas City, Missouri, residents and keeps the City clean while building community pride.
