FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 28, 2017
City of Kansas City, Missouri, administrative offices will be closed in observance of the Independence Day holiday on Tuesday, July 4. The 311 Call Center will also be closed. As a result, trash and recycling collection will happen one day later than normal.
City offices are open on July 3 so Monday’s trash pickup won’t be affected.
The city is also granting trash amnesty to residents from July 5-10. During this time, residents may set out more than two bags of trash on the curb for free, without buying tags for the extra trash bags. But please do not include any hazardous waste, bulky items or leaf and brush.
Also remember that the city has an unlimited curbside recycling program which can help reduce the amount of trash bags. Residents are encouraged to recycle plastics #1-7, and cardboard and seasonal gift boxes. Residents may also bring recyclable items, including glass, to recycling centers located at Metro North Mall, 5200 E. Red Bridge Road
(Intersection of U.S.71/I-49 and Red Bridge Road – next to the KCATA Park and Ride), and 4707 Deramus Ave. The centers are open Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
