FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Oct. 11, 2017
Kansas City is celebrating some grand improvements along Grand Boulevard in the heart of downtown. Crews just finished striping new bike lanes on Grand Boulevard from the River Market to 20th Street, and now it’s time to celebrate!
Join city leaders, BikeWalkKC and project supporters on the northwest corner of 20th and Grand this Friday, Oct. 13, at 9 a.m. After a brief ceremony, city leaders will help paint the final bike symbol on the pavement to mark the official completion of the bike lanes. A group bike ride along Grand, from 20th to 5th Street, will immediately follow. BikeWalkKC’s bike share service, B-Cycle, will provide free bike rentals at 20th and Grand in honor of the event.
Completion of the Grand Boulevard bike lanes wraps up the first phase of the two-phase Downtown Bike Loop project. The project will continue in spring of 2018.
