FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Sept. 14, 2017
The City of Kansas City, Missouri, is offering flu vaccinations for adults and children at the Health Department, 2400 Troost Ave. Flu shots are available during regular clinic hours from 8-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 8-noon on Thursdays.
The Health Department will bill Medicare Part B or Medicaid on behalf of those who provide proof of coverage. The Department is also accepting private insurance. Children who qualify under the Federal Vaccine for Children program will receive vaccine provided through that program. All others will be charged $30 per shot or $55 for the high-dose formulation (available to seniors 65 years and older). Non-Kansas City residents will be charged an additional $10 administration fee. Cash and credit cards only will be accepted for payment.
“Getting a flu shot is the single best way to prevent the flu or decrease the length and severity of symptoms,” said Dr. Rex Archer, director of the Health Department. “Those who are vaccinated against the flu are far less likely to spread the flu to their family or friends.”
More information on flu shot clinics may be found at the Health Department webpage.
