Multi-Million Dollar Apartment Complex Adds New Life to Paseo Gateway Neighborhood; Pendleton Flats Grand Opening Showcases New Housing Options
IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, October 23, 2017
Kansas City, Mo. – Pendleton Flats apartment community will have its grand opening on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 555 Olive St., in Kansas City, Missouri. The grand opening celebration will include remarks from Brinshore Development President, David Brint, Councilman Quinton Lucas, Councilman Jermaine Reed, Councilman Scott Wagner, City Manager Troy Schulte, as well as, Donovan Mouton and Ed Lowndes from the Housing Authority of Kansas City (HAKC) and others involved in the project.
Pendleton Flats adds 30 contemporary apartments at reasonable rental rates in a three-building layout surrounding a beautifully landscaped courtyard. Developed by Brinshore Development, LLC and HAKC, Pendleton Flats was made possible through financing from the Missouri Housing Development Commission and National Equity Fund.
“The development itself is a gorgeous turnaround for a formerly partially vacant, blighted apartment complex in Pendleton Heights,” said David Brint, President of Brinshore Development, LLC. “Pendleton Flats has excellent access to job centers, transportation, cultural institutions, parks and amazing housing stock within a stone’s throw of downtown.”
The $4.8 million project is the second phase of the Paseo Gateway revitalization effort. The City of Kansas City in cooperation with HAKC administers the five year, $30 million Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant, intended to create mixed-income housing to replace the Chouteau Courts apartment complex. In the next year, Brinshore and HAKC will break ground on three additional replacement housing projects in the Paseo Gateway Choice area.
Pendleton Flats, formerly Brooklyn Heights, was a magnet for squatters and crime. “With the renovation completed, there is a safe and positive complex in the neighborhood where families can live,” said Katherine Carttar, a Development Specialist for the City Planning and Development Department. “This is especially important because the apartment building is across the street from Scuola Vita Nuova Charter School and next to Independence Plaza Park.”
Residents will enjoy extra amenities including on-site management, bike racks, an intercom entry system, central AC, private balconies, in-unit washer/dryer, dishwasher, secure and off-street parking and Energy Star appliances.
The development was designed and constructed to comply with the Enterprise Green Communities Certification standards. Resident services will be provided by the Mattie Rhodes Center.
