FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 31, 2017
The City of Kansas City’s Neighborhoods and Housing Services Department has hired Jennifer Tidwell, an experienced state, local and federal administrator, as division manager.
“Ms. Tidwell has spent more than 25 years working in the areas of housing and urban development, public policy, project management, community development financing and MBE/WBE programs,” said John A. Wood, NHSD director. “She also brings significant experience from federal and state agencies that will strengthen our inter-departmental communications and enhance partnerships with external stakeholders and elected officials.”
Tidwell previously was appointed HUD Regional Administrator for Region VII (Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa) by the Obama administration in 2013. Prior to her appointment, she was the Deputy Director of Public Policy for the Missouri Housing Development Commission. In 2001, she was appointed by then-Missouri Gov. Bob Holden to the Missouri State Tax Commission, supervising 115 county assessors across the state.
Tidwell graduated from Baker (Kan.) University and received her MBA in finance from the University of Wisconsin.
“Her experience in community needs assessments and her work with underserved communities will be invaluable as the NHSD continues to better serve the residents of Kansas City,” Wood said.
