What: The community is invited to two public meetings that will be attended by City and Fire Department Officials, as well as project team members, to learn information about the future Northland Fire Station that will be in the northeast part of District 1. The new Fire Station location will be located just to the east of the Interstate – 435 interchange with Missouri Highway 291 (NE Cookingham Drive) and just west of NE Sherman Road on the north side of NE Cookingham Drive. The City accepted the donation of 7.3 acres of the property for the new Fire Station by Timothy Harris, President of Star Development Corp. and Neighborhoods, the Public Safety Committee, and City Council approved the land donation this past January.
Who: City and Fire Department Officials, as well as project team members, will share more information about the project. Building a fire station in this part of the City became a key component of 1st District Councilwoman Heather Hall’s platform when she took office in 2015. KCFD Chief Paul Berardi said a Northland station will fit perfectly into his department’s mission to best serve more citizens.

Why: There are 34 fire stations strategically located across the City, and the new station will benefit the residents, businesses, schools, churches, and greater community by its proximity and improved response times in cases of emergency.
