FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 19, 2018
The City is taking affirmative action against the unsightly illegal dumping that annoys neighbors and trashes neighborhoods. Residents can now help fight illegal dumping by calling the City’s new hotline: 816-513-DUMP (3867). The tips shared for investigators on this hotline will be confidential.
“The 513-DUMP hotline allows residents to assist us in cleaning up their neighborhoods,” said Forest Decker, assistant manager of the city’s Solid Waste Division. “The citizens of Kansas City are our very best allies in keeping the city clean.”
The 513-DUMP hotline should only be used to report illegal dumping activities. Individuals with other trash-related concerns or with issues regarding city services still need to call 3-1-1. Decker said having extra sets of eyes looking for illegal dumpers and ready to call an easy-to-remember phone number like 513-DUMP will help keep neighborhoods cleaner and safer.
“This (the hotline) is going to be an important tool to help catch and prosecute illegal dumpers throughout Kansas City,” Decker said.
