Urban Core Clean-up on Saturday; 12 Neighborhood Associations working to build community pride

The Urban Core Clean-up is set for Saturday, June 30, from 8 a.m. to noon. This marks the first time that multiple neighborhood groups are working together to address trash and illegal dumping in their communities.
The neighborhood associations participating are Washington Wheatley, Dunbar, Santa Fe, South Round Top, 23rd St. Pac, Blue Valley, McCoy, Independence Plaza, Vinyard, Seven Oaks, Oak Park and Palestine. The clean-up is being sponsored by 3rd District At-Large Councilman Quinton Lucas with support from The City of Kansas City, Missouri, Neighborhood and Housing Services and the Health Department’s Aim4Peace Violence Prevention Program.
“I’m proud that our neighborhoods in the 3rd District are taking the lead in preserving their community,” Lucas said. “Friends and neighbors are vital to a safe and healthy Kansas City and our great volunteers are what make this such a special community. My office is glad to support their efforts as we build a better and clean place to live in all Kansas City neighborhoods.”
Volunteer Check-In for the neighborhood clean-up will occur at the following locations:
- 1100 Agnes
- 1924 Van Brunt (East High School)
- 2500 Bellefontaine (True Vine)
- 2900 Walrond
- 3800 Kensington (7 Oaks Park)
- 3449 Indiana (Palestine Center)
- 4301 E 43rd St. (Vineyard Neighborhood Association
Trash can be brought to the following locations:
- 11th between Park and Brooklyn
- 1924 Van Brunt at East High School
- 2500 Bellefontaine at True Vine
- 2900 Walrond
- 3500 Brighton
- 3900 Jackson
- 4300 Spruce
Brush can be brought to 1100 Agnes.
Tires can be disposed of at 1924 Van Brunt and 3840 Jackson.
