Development Assistance Team (DAT) meetings are offered as an informal step in the land use application process to applicants and/or their representatives, potential developers and property owners. The meeting provides the opportunity to meet with City staff to discuss a development proposal before making a formal application submittal to the City. The purpose of the meeting is to inform City staff about the proposal and for staff to explain the review process, offer the City’s perspective, and provide other necessary information to help potential developers make better informed decisions regarding development proposals.
The DAT is comprised of representatives from a number of City departments involved in the development process, including staff from City Planning and Development’s Plan Review, Development Management, Long-Range Planning, and Land Development divisions. Also, there are representatives from the KCMO Fire Department, Water Services and Public Works Transportation section. Its purpose is to help people preparing to submit a development project get preliminary information about current standards and requirements. The DAT is not a formal review body and the review by staff of DAT applications should be considered preliminary.
The DAT meetings are held on Thursdays at either 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. in the 15th Floor conference room of City Hall. Please use the application packet below to submit a request for a DAT meeting. The application materials need to be submitted to the City by 5 p.m. on Monday of any week to schedule a meeting for the following week on Thursday. The date and time for your meeting will be scheduled at the time we receive your submission. If all meeting times are already reserved, the meeting will be scheduled for the next available date and time. If you have any questions, please contact Mike Mallon, DAT Coordinator, at (816) 513-1533 or Mike.Mallon@kcmo.org.
