TITLE: Fleet Operations Technician II (Automotive Mechanic)
SALARY RANGE: $3,155 – $5,409 Monthly
An opening for the position of Fleet Operations Technician II (Automotive Mechanic) is available within the Fleet Operations Unit.
NATURE OF WORK
To provide automotive repairs, inspects and services departmental vehicles and may include duties such as line repair work, tune ups, fabrication of special equipment, road tests, transmission, electrical system and brake repairs.
Graduation from a high school or G.E.D. equivalency and a minimum of three to five years of experience in a full-service auto repair facility.
Prefer VOTEC, college or formal technical training in applied auto repair and must have experience or training in welding / metal fabricating and knowledge of electronics to diagnose and repair computers in vehicles.
Must also obtain a Missouri State Inspectors Permit within one year of hire date.
Must have possession of a valid driver’s license required and an additional motorcycle qualification preferred.
Ability to performs clerical support tasks, such as writing service orders, searching for part listings and service records and maintaining service log sheets and enter labor for tracking purposes.
Ability to assist law enforcement personnel in recovering evidence from vehicles and respond to tow/service calls and test drives vehicles to check repairs and may drive vehicles to pick up parts, etc.
Position requires very heavy listing (over 50 pounds) occasionally, and heavy lifting (20 to 50 pounds) and light lifting (5 to 20 pounds) frequently. Also, requires wearing of safety equipment such as steel/composite toed shoes (provided), safety glasses, hearing protection and gloves / helmets when fabricating metal.
Must submit to a pre-employment polygraph examination.
