Shoal Creek Patrol Services and Community Groups
Our goal is to serve neighborhoods, businesses, faith based organizations, alcohol and drug prevention coalitions, community groups and schools by problem solving, address specific needs and educating the public on crime prevention.

Block Watch training: Block watch is a great tool for neighborhoods to utilize to address and prevent crime issues. By sharing information, educating residents on crime prevention and requesting city services the quality of life within neighborhoods increases. Requesting police services and staying current on crime trends has resulted in suspects being apprehended. For more information, please contact the front desk at 413-3400.
Extra Patrol Request: This a program that SCPD uses to address community issues that might happen in the future. If you would like to make a request, please contact the front desk at 413-3400.
Suspected Narcotics Report: If you know of a drug house in the neighborhood and want to report it please complete a KCPD Suspected Narcotics Report online or call 474-3784 (DRUG). You can remain anonymous.
Speeding Complaint: If see a traffic problem, please call the KCPD traffic complaint squad at 329-0911 to report it.
Child Car Seat Inspections: The Safety and Health Council of Western Missouri and Kansas is an official Car Seat Fitting Station. They will check to see if your car seat is properly installed and help you make corrections as needed. They can also answer many questions parents have regarding this very important issue. If you would like to get your car seat checked for proper installation please call Beverly Smith at 842-5223, extension 233, for an appointment.
Community Service Workers: KCPD and the Metropolitan Community Service Program have partnered to put misdemeanor court assigned community service hours to work to assist the community with small unskilled projects such as beautifying neighborhood parks. Crime Free Multi-housing: SCPD has an internationally recognized program that teaches landlords best practices on finding good tenants, how to write and use good lease agreements and what to do when tenants go bad. For more information, please visit www.kccrimefree.com or contact:

Station Tours: Boy and girl scout tours and community group tours are available with appointment and we will cover your requested topics. For scheduling contact the front desk at 413-3400.
Attendance at Neighborhood and Community Meetings: If you would like an officer to attend your neighborhood or community meetings to address a crime disorder issue occurring in your neighborhood or to conduct a presentation on a specific crime prevention topic of interest, please contact the front desk at 413-3400.
Security Surveys: KCPD officers use Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design or CPTED principals and years of police experience to assist you in target hardening your home or business. We will walk around your house and provide low cost recommendations on how you can reduce the risk of a burglary. To schedule an assessment, please contact the front desk at 413-3400.
Mediation: KCPD refers civil matter disputes to the Community Mediation Center at 461-8255. They help families, neighbors and landlord/tenants resolve disputes in just and respectful ways.
Parking Issues: You can call KCPD non-emergency number at 234-5111 to report parking issues.
Reporting Crime: If it is an emergency call 911. If you want an officer to contact you, please advise the call taker. To report any information on criminal activity, please call 816-474-8477 (TIPS). You can remain anonymous.
Show car display: If you would like to have the KCPD show car at your public event, please contact the front desk at 413-3400.
Classroom Presentations and School Visits: If you would like to have an officer conduct a classroom presentation on topics such as bicycle safety, pedestrian safety, bullying, suicide prevention, on-line safety, how the juvenile justice system, substance abuse prevention, etc., please contact the front desk at 413-3400 for scheduling. We also love to be invited to visit schools to talk about how awesome our job is and let students see some of our equipment.
Women’s Personal Safety: If you have a group of women who would like an introduction or a refresher course on women’s self-defense, please contact the front desk for more information at 413-3400. Armed Intruder Response Training: KCPD has a 20 minute video that can help you devise a plan in case you encounter an armed intruder entering your place of work, school or public property. If you or your staff would like to view the training video, contact the front desk at 413-3400 scheduling.
