The Capital Projects Division manages key construction projects for the City of Kansas City, Mo. Public Works Department. Capital Projects staff are at the forefront of Kansas City’s construction renaissance, bringing process improvements and standardized practices to the management of street, bridge and building projects throughout the City. Why is Kansas City doing this project?
To improve the accessibility and upgrade amenities along 135th street, a main thoroughfare for residents in South Kansas City, from Holmes Road to Highway 150
What will the project look like when complete?
The 135th Street public improvement project is divide up into three phases. Phase 1, completed in 2014, includes the section of 135th Street between Holmes Road and Oak Street. Phase 2, under construction in 2016, includes the section of 135th Street between Oak Street and Wornall Road. Phase 3, pending construction, includes the section of 135th Street between Wornall Road and Hwy 150. The 135th Street public improvement project is a joint project of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, Jackson County, and Martin City CID.
