Sunshine Law Request Form
Welcome to the City of Kansas City, Missouri Sunshine Law request submission page.
To enhance customer service and increase government transparency, we have created an easy to use request submission page. Simply enter your contact information and ask for the information you are seeking. You may attach a request letter or fill out the information box.
If you are seeking records specifically from the City Planning and Development Department, please see the Records Request page for the Planning Department to learn more about the records provided, such as Zoning Compliance Letters or a Certificate of Occupancy. You may also submit a request to the City Planning and Development Department by email.
For other requests, please submit the form below, and a member of our staff will respond to your request within three business days. Our dedicated staff will attempt to provide all of the information requested within three business days. However, requests which require significant amounts of staff time or City resources may take longer to collect and may be subject to a fee. All fees must be paid prior to the collection and release of information.
Please know that the Freedom of Information Act, or FOIA, is a federal law. The Missouri law regulating records requests is referred to as the Sunshine Law. More information is available in the Missouri Sunshine Law booklet.
