THE U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) provides federally-funded meals including the Summer Food Service Program and the National School Lunch Programʼs Seamless Summer Option. These programs offer free, nutritious meals to children at approved sites in areas with high concentrations of low-income children.
However, Kansas City isn’t reaching many of our low-income children, especially those who are high school aged.
We need your help.
YOU CAN MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE. Here’s how:
BE A SPONSOR | Sponsors are at the heart of the USDA summer meal programs. Sponsors are responsible for the operation of summer meal sites and ensure access to meals. Learn more about meal planning, food handling and best practices.
BE A MEAL SITE | Meal sites are where the state agency, partnering organizations and sponsors come together to provide fresh, well-balanced meals that are appetizing to children. Learn more about the program, how to develop a strong relationship with the sponsor, and best practices.
BE A VOLUNTEER | Sites and sponsors need help distributing the meals they have. Whether you can commit one time, or multiple times, you or your organization can help make sure that our children receive a healthy meal. Learn about the program along with sponsor and site information.
