GO KC Sidewalk Program
In August 2017, City Council approved a new sidewalk program to evaluate, inspect, repair and replace sidewalks. The Sidewalk Program receives roughly $7.5 million from GO Bonds each year to work on:
- ADA corners and ramps, per federal regulations from the American Disability Act
- Sidewalk spot repair of the 311 backlog-- this is a long list of 311 sidewalk requests from 2008-2016 that we anticipate completing in 2025.
- Citywide sidewalk design inspections to inventory conditions of sidewalks across KCMO
The image below shows how the GO Bond Sidewalk Program funding is broken out each year. Please note, the exact amount for each category below is dependent on total program funding that is dedicated each budget cycle.
The GO Bond Sidewalk Program allows for a two year warranty on completed projects, requiring the contractor to fix any defects within the warranty period. Public Works identifies defects or damage through an inspection process to determine the cause of damages, aligning with our dedication to improving infrastructure and walkability in Kansas City.
