  • Are there workshops for doing business with the City of Kansas City?

    Yes. There are free monthly pre-certification workshops conducted by the Procurement Services Division and Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity Department (CREO) that cover MBE/WBE/SLBE certification and supplier registration. The MWDBE certification workshop is held on the last Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m.  The SLBE certification workshop is held on the first Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m.

    At this time, all workshops are being held virtually via Microsoft Teams Meeting.  For more information or to register for either workshop, please call (816) 513-1836.

    To register online for MWDBE or SLBE application, go to the MWDBE Directory, click on Login (right side) to apply online. Existing MWDBE and SLBE’s can renew their certification as well once an account has been set up.

  • Can I register online to become a Vendor/Supplier?

    Non-Construction Related Suppliers: Register your company in Bonfire

    Construction Related Suppliers: Register with the City's KCMO Plan Room.

    Please allow 24 hours for the registration(s) to take effect. Once registered, your company will receive notifications of new bidding opportunities that match your services or the commodities you indicated in your registration profile.

    You can view current bidding opportunities on the Open Public Opportunities page. However, you cannot submit the bidding documents until you register your company following the links above. After registering, you can apply to any bidding opportunity by following the instructions given for that project.

  • What types of contracts are issued by the Procurement Services Division?

  • Are there goals for MWDBE firms on City contracts?

    Yes. There are MWBE goal requirements for Non-Construction contracts when the estimated annual cost shall exceed 160,000; and the MWDBE goal requirements for Constructions contracts when the estimated cost shall exceed $300,000. For MWDBE certification, contact the Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity  Department (CREO) at (816) 513-1836.

    Contracts under those thresholds are reviewed by CREO.

  • Can I add new scopes of service or goods to my vendor profile at any time?

    Yes. To update your profile, contact Procurement Services by email or call (816) 513-0851 with address, email, contact name, and commodity code changes. To update your MWDBE/SLBE profile please contact the CREO Department at (816) 513-1836.

  • How can MWDBE/SLBE firms be proactive in seeking business opportunities with the City of Kansas City?

    It is important to attend pre-bid  and pre-proposal meetings to network and market your company to the Prime Contractors, check the City’s Online Contract Advertising Search application for upcoming bid opportunities, and utilize the services offered by the  Senior Procurement Officers in the Procurement Services Division.   • May I view an existing contract in my area?

    You can view most City contracts online!

    If you can't locate the contract you're looking for, you can submit a Sunshine Law Request.
