A committee led by City leaders is looking to gain feedback from the community on a Municipal Rehabilitation and Detention Center. Chaired by 4th District-at-large Councilman Crispin Rea, the group aims to learn about the community's perspective on the size, nature as it relates to the ratio of mental health to detention beds, financing and location for the Municipal Rehabilitation and Detention Center.

KCMO City Councilmember Crispin Rea“The City Council’s Special Committee on the Municipal Rehabilitation and Detention Center has been working hard to make recommendations to the full Council on the size, scope, financing, and location of a new facility. We will be engaging in robust community engagement and we hope to complete this important work by the end of January. I believe we can identify a solution that improves our municipal criminal justice system for defendants and victims, increases public safety, and reduces detentions and recidivism," 4th District-at-Large Councilman Crispin Rea said.

The City hosted six Community Engagement Sessions in November and December:  one in each district, to help ensure Kansas Citian's voices are heard and feedback is collected across the city.
