The Redistricting Commission held its first meeting Sept. 8, 2021 and met weekly until presenting their map recommendation to the Special Committee for Legal Review on Dec. 7, 2021. The full council adopted an amended map on Dec. 16, 2021 by a vote of 9-4. The amended map, which will be effective after the next Council election, is below.

The current and new district maps are available on the KCMO District Maps page.

Why Did KCMO Have to Redraw Council Districts?

Section 203(b) of the City's Charter provides that "The Council shall draw new districts, based upon the last official federal census, not later than the last day of December of the year of the publication of the official federal census."

Read the handout presented at listening sessions that details the City's guiding principles for redistricting.
