Updated COVID vaccine

The CDC recommends that everyone six months and older receive an updated COVID-19 vaccine.  

What is the difference between the past vaccine/booster and the one that came out in Fall 2023?

The vaccines/boosters offered in 2023/24 protected against both the Omicron variants BA.4 and BA.5. The current vaccines will offer protection against Omicron variants KP.2 and JN.1.

When should I get the updated vaccine?

The vaccine is now available at some local pharmacies. We recommend that you consult your healthcare provider to guide your decision.

Wear a mask around the vulnerable people in your life, and wear a mask if you are vulnerable. Handwashing is always important, especially now as more viruses circulate.
