The City Prosecutor’s Office prosecutes all City ordinance violations. Each year approximately 350,000 new cases are filed in municipal court.

A prosecutor is assigned to each of the nine courtrooms every day and handles all cases in that particular courtroom. Prosecutors are assigned to handle the specialized courtrooms, appeals cases, jury trials and the day-to-day office operations.

The City Prosecutor’s Office also trains city employees who appear regularly in municipal court, and suggests changes to ordinances that are frequently prosecuted in municipal court.
