Everyone ages 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine every year.

If you’re at higher risk of developing serious flu complications, flu vaccination is especially important. These groups include:

• Adults 65 and older
• Adults with certain chronic health conditions, such as asthma, heart disease, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease
• Pregnant people
• Children younger than 5 years, but especially those younger than 2 years old.

For residents without health insurance, there will be no cost. Supply will be limited. 

The health department will bill:

• Medicare Part B
• Medicaid
• Most other insurance plans for those that provide proof of coverage.

All others will be charged $20.50 per shot or $60.00 for the high-dose formulation (very limited quantities; available to seniors 65 years and older).

*Registration for the clinic closes 30 minutes before the clinic does, so please do not wait till the end of a shift to arrive, or we may not be able to assist you during that shift.

Getting the vaccine reduces your chance of getting sick.

It’s possible to catch the flu even if you’re vaccinated, but the vaccine reduces the severity of illness if you do get sick.

If you’re vaccinated and still get the flu, you have a lower chance of getting seriously ill or needing hospitalization. 

You need specific testing to confirm if you are sick with either virus.

You can test for COVID-19 at home, while most flu tests and RSV tests are administered by a medical professional.

Contact your health care provider if you have questions about testing and treatment, especially if you or your child are at high risk for complications from flu, RSV, or COVID-19.

Children under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by parent/legal guardian.

If a child is not accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, then this permission acknowledgement form must be completed by the parent or guardian and turned in before vaccinations can be given.

Best Ways to Avoid the Flu

• Get vaccinated
• Wash hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water.
• Cover coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue.
• If you get sick, stay home if you can.

No vaccine is 100 percent effective; however, those who get vaccinated and still get the flu typically have far milder symptoms, for a much shorter period of time.
