Our team of mental health coordinators has made many phone calls to update this list of activities for kids for Summer 2023.
Some of the information still needs updating (which we note in the 1st column.)

We will continue to reach out to contacts and provide updates as we get the new information.

We hope it is a helpful resource as you plan summer activities for the child or children in your life.

When children are alone and inactive, they are at higher risk for:

  • Online bullying or predators
  • Excessive time on social media or gaming
  • Depression
  • Isolation
  • Anxiety
  • Aggression
  • Substance abuse
  • Learning challenges
  • Behavioral issues

The Kansas City Health Department is urging the community to be alert this summer to kids in distress. Realize that parents and caregivers will need extra help from their family, friends, trusted neighbors and community support systems.

The KC Parks & Rec website has many more opportunities than we can list here. Be sure to check there for programs that might interest your child such as boxing, theater, and cooking.

The health department's Aim4Peace violence prevention program will also host events each month for Kansas City youth. Follow their Facebook page for announcements.
