FREE Reception and Lecture: “Luis Quintanilla and Don Quixote at UMKC”

Art Historian Dr. López Sobrado and art restorer Dr. Gárate Llombart will talk about Luis Quintanilla’s arrival in Kansas City during his exile after the Spain’s Civil War (1936‐1939) and how the University of Kansas City at the time commissioned him to paint the frescos at Haag Hall on Miguel de Cervantes’s famous characters, not without controversy.
