The Kansas City Folk Festival (KCFF) began as a public engagement component of Folk Alliance International (FAI), a registered 501c3 based in Kansas City. It produced the festival for several years at both the Westin Crown Center and the Guadalupe Center with audiences ranging from 400-800 people. The close to home but far from ordinary curation approach focused on underrepresented local, regional, national, and international folk musicians, and the grassroots festival included a juried artisans market and provided space for local non-profits and cultural sector organizations.
