The Annual Kansas City Pride Event will provide local LGBTQ+ community members from KC and the surrounding communities a time to come together to celebrate their history as one large group. Even today, many members of the LGBTQ+ community are marginalized and shamed by community members, friends, co-workers, and family members. The Kansas City Pride Event provides them a chance to take pride in their identities and be themselves, by joining together with community members, friends, and family who support and accept who they were born to be. Sometimes it is hard to remember that the LGBTQ+ community is bigger than one group.
