In the Yard, is a the American Jazz Museum's signature celebration of Charlie Parker's Birthday, his influence on Jazz for the world, and connections to artists that came after him. As a Kansas Citian, it has become a tradition to utilize the week around his birthday on August 29th to honor his status. We gather community for a saxophone salute at the Charlie Parker bust in memorial, feature national and local acts during a central concert and partner with local vendors for food, info booths, and merchandise from the community and citywide. As a festival-like event, many locals and tourists enjoy the best offering from the Jazz District and our Jazz identified City.
