New Source of Income (SOI) Ordinance

  • Introduction: The webinar will cover the new Source of Income (SOI) law, which prohibits housing discrimination based on non-wage income used for rent. This event aims to raise awareness about the law's significance and its positive community impact, as well as provide landlords with relevant information.

The Kansas City Department of Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity is pleased to announce our educational webinar on July 24th from 9:00 -10:30 am.  It will focus on the new Source of Income (SOI) law, which prohibits discrimination in housing because of a prospective tenant's use of non-wage income in the payment of rent. This important event aims to raise awareness about the law and highlight its significance and the positive impact it can have on our community in fostering fair and equitable housing.

We will also provide information for landlords to assist them in best understanding their obligations under the law and the benefits to attracting tenants they may not have previously considered.
