3rd District Master Planning

If you live in Kansas City’s 3rd District, then you don’t want to miss this opportunity to talk about citywide issues and challenges and, more importantly, receive feedback from experts who can help you find solutions to problems facing our communities.

A planning session is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kauffman Foundation, 4801 Rockhill Rd. The event is free and open to the public. Lunch will be served.

The goal is to present general information about the City, while seeking your input on the priorities you want to see established for the next 12 months.

“It is critically important that residents are empowered and engaged in setting the priorities for the 3rd District and city,” said 3rd District Councilwoman Melissa Robinson. “Our hope is that residents are inspired to be active change agents and our planning session will help build our toolbox to implement the change we seek.”

The primary topics to be addressed are:
  • Economic Development
  • Blight and Debris
  • Violence
  • Housing
A distinguished group of panelists and facilitators are on board to lead the discussions, including John George, Founder and Executive Director of Detroit Blight Busters, a non-profit organization dedicated to neighborhood stabilization and revitalization.

The Rev. Deth Im, Director of Training and Development for PICO, is also scheduled to participate. PICO is a national network of faith-based community organizations working to create innovative solutions to problems facing urban, suburban and rural communities.
