KCMO City Councilmember Wes Rogers

Councilman Wes Rogers represents Kansas City’s 2nd District. He is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association, the Platte County Bar Association, the Clay County Bar Association, and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association where he graduated from the KCMBA’s Bar Leadership Academy. 

From 2019-2022, Wes represented southern Clay County, including a portion of Kansas City, in the Missouri House of Representatives. He is also active in the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and the Northland Chamber of Commerce.  In 2018, he completed the Northland Chamber’s Leadership Northland class. 

Wes serves on the Flagship Council for the University of Missouri-Columbia. He also finished third-to-last in the 2009 MR340 canoe race from Kansas City to St. Louis. 

He grew up in Platte City where he graduated from Platte County R-3 High School. He then received a B.A. in Geography and a J.D. from the University of Missouri. He later earned an M.B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis. 

After law school, Wes was a public defender in Buchanan County for a year followed by five years at the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office.  For the final two years, he was Clay County’s Chief Deputy Prosecutor. 

Upon leaving the prosecutor’s office, Wes started a small business with his brother and two other business partners where they wholesale cleaning supplies to distributors. He is also actively involved in a second family business where they sell and lease commercial dishwashers to places such as restaurants, nursing homes, and hotels. 

Wes lives in Clay County with his wife Laura, their three kids Hank, Ellie, and Abby, and their dog Rosie.
