It’s vital that we continue to be strategic about how our taxpayer dollars are invested so we can capitalize on the best opportunities for our community, and we’re committed to ensuring that every Kansas Citian benefits from Kansas City’s momentum, no matter where they live. Because that’s how you responsibly grow a city.

We’re taking a future-oriented approach to improving transportation, infrastructure and housing, and connecting people to businesses and entertainment, while keeping our commitment to ensuring Kansas City is a safe and affordable place to live at the forefront.

Central to this mission is ensuring that every family in Kansas City can afford a home where they can safely raise a family on a budget, which is why I created the City’s Special Committee on Housing Policy to craft policy solutions that will help families find safe and sanitary homes to live in.

We know that a child with stable housing does better in school, and affordable homes can attract and retain employees, making Kansas City even more appealing to businesses that want to expand or relocate to the area. We’re working with civic leaders and developers to put incentives in place to produce housing that every Kansas Citian has a chance to call home. We’re also prioritizing additional incentives for affordable housing near bus lines and transportation hubs.
