Mayor Lucas Taps Local Entrepreneur Kemet Coleman to Participate in Young Men of Color Roundtable on Entrepreneurship with VP Harris

Kansas City, Mo – Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas today announced he tapped local entrepreneur Kemet Coleman to represent Kansas City during a “Young Men of Color Roundtable on Entrepreneurship” hosted by Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris at The White House.  The event, which will include young male entrepreneurs of color from across the country, will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, May 16, at noon CT.

Coleman is weeks away from opening Kansas City’s first Black-owned brewery in the historic 18th and Vine District, joining less than one percent of Black-owned breweries in the U.S.

“Kansas City is a city of entrepreneurs, and we are committed to uplifting our small businesses on national platforms every chance we can,” said Mayor Lucas. “I am proud to send Kemet to represent Kansas City at the White House and share his story of entrepreneurial success with the Vice President to help improve outcomes for Black entrepreneurs nationwide. Kemet’s work helps bring investment to our urban core and creative community, connecting Kansas Citians through his business ventures ranging from entertainment to brewing. I look forward to the great ideas Kemet will bring to this roundtable and I thank the Biden-Harris Administration for their continued historic investment and support for Black-owned small businesses in Kansas City and across the nation.”

“I am honored to bring the spirit of Kansas City to the White House for such a powerful exchange of ideas and inspiration around entrepreneurship,” said Coleman. “I look forward to connecting with the Vice President and other entrepreneurs of color who strive to become both inspirations and catalysts of change in their communities. As someone who has dedicated their career to strengthening the cultural identity of Kansas City, this is simply a dream come true.”
