Traffic Calming Projects
Traffic calming projects effectively slow traffic, creating a safer roadway in alignment Vision Zero to stop deadly and serious accidents on our streets. Some examples of traffic calming are:
- Speed humps
- Curb extensions
- Traffic circles
Request Traffic Calming
If you want traffic calming in your area, you can submit a request through MyKCMO on your phone or our online portal. It's open to everyone such as residents, business owners, and neighborhood organizations.

Traffic Calming Request Process
- Submit a request via MyKCMO
- Obtain required signatures Neighborhood Acceptance Petition Form
- Send signatures to Monica.Kearney@kcmo.org
- If request DOES meet signature requirements, Public Works Traffic Engineering division replies indicating to apply for PIAC or other ways to fund installation.
- If it DOES NOT meet requirements, then Public Works Traffic Engineering division will send over instructions on how to meet requirements or reasoning for the street not meeting requirements and if other traffic calming may provide a better solution.
