Before You Even Begin the Permit Process, You Need to Have the Following:
- Your menu needs to be set and specific. What will you serve?
- You need to have a location.
Here’s what to expect when you go through the permit process:
1. You establish your restaurant concept and know your menu.
2. You select a location.
- If there are no modifications to the structure, move to step 3
- If there are modifications to the structure, you must submit plans to City Planning & Development.
- Your submission will be reviewed.
- If approved by City Planning & Development, move to step 3
3. You will then submit a food establishment permit application along with the following required documents:
- Copy of photo ID
- Articles of incorporation /LLC company information (if applicable)
- Approved City Planning final inspection or
- Certification of Occupancy (if newly built establishment)
- Finalized menu
- Fire inspection report
- Application processing fee ($100)

4. You will now schedule a pre-opening inspection.
5. Upon passing, you will pay your permit fee.
- Fees vary according to number of employees, type of establishment and can be found in the Food Establishment Fee Schedule.
- Permit and inspection fees may now be paid online.
