Before You Even Begin the Permit Process, You Need to Have the Following:

Your menu needs to be set and specific. What will you serve?
You need to have a location.

Here’s what to expect when you go through the permit process:

1. You establish your restaurant concept and know your menu.

2. You select a location.

If there are no modifications to the structure, move to step 3
If there are modifications to the structure, you must submit plans to City Planning & Development.
- Your submission will be reviewed.
- If approved by City Planning & Development, move to step 3

3. You will then submit a food establishment permit application along with the following required documents:

Copy of photo ID
Articles of incorporation /LLC company information (if applicable)
Approved City Planning final inspection or
Certification of Occupancy (if newly built establishment)
Finalized menu
Fire inspection report
Application processing fee ($100)

4. You will now schedule a pre-opening inspection.

5. Upon passing, you will pay your permit fee.

Fees vary according to number of employees, type of establishment and can be found in the Food Establishment Fee Schedule.
